Dear Elif, A friend of mine, recently arrived from India, told me about your book The Forty Rules of Love. I was intrigued, watched and listened to you on the TED youtube, purchased your book, and began reading. The first night I began to read, as I later slept, I dreamed twice of Rumi and Shams of Tabriz surrounded with light, appearing first in one place and then another. I follow a spiritual path based on the heart, discipline, and devotion, which not surprisingly embraces the stories of the Sufis. Thank you for writing this book, and reminding me of the bittersweet longing for the Beloved Friend which also fired my soul many years ago now.

Thank you Elif,… for stealing my heart in this way. I didn’t believe anymore. Maybe is the strength of the literature, the warmth of your words.. your way touching directly to the hearts. You’re a real light, intellectual guide, inspiration of your country. Let’s hope the best for the Turkey you dream…I am saying these words from a Balkan prospect, countries that always were ruined by wars and regimes but with a fully heart of life and joy. Like Turkey which I consider a part of Balkans, for historical , cultural reasons too. Let’s close the eyes and imagine the world as John Lennon did. With the best wishes of this world! Friendly, Anjeza

Dear Miss Safak, What an impressive presentation you made at TED, seriously, I have seen it several times and the more I do it, the more I like it. I fully agree with what you said about English as a second language. For many years I have been hesitant about writing “because I do not know enough”. But after looking at your truly inspiring conference, there are no more doubts, I will start writing immediately. Best regards from and admirer in the beautiful city of Guadalajara Mexico. Thank you for taking to time to read my communication. Santiago Plascencia,
