A friend from Turkey suggested your books to our book club. Your last novel, the Bastard of Istanbul was selected for reading. Although the topic was interesting and obviously rather brave for Turkey given that Armenian genocide is still a taboo for Turks, I thought it was pitty that the book was written in English. It just does not have the fluent and beautiful language that my Turkish friend claimed to have found in the Turkish version. Despite the interesting content, it is rather difficult to read the book. A foreigner can write in English, for instance the Loss of Inheritance is a very good example to that. However, with this book, I came to the conclusion that Elif Safhak should not be one of them. I am sure it will be much more interesting to read good translation of your books.

I am half way through your novel "The Bastard of Istanbul"and I find most of it enjoyable however being of Armenian decent I also am reminded of the past mainly the genocide in 1915 and this of course I find upsetting..The Turks to this day have not and refuse to acknowledge the event which makes it impossible to forgive and forget by many Armenians including myself.
