Elif, I very much enjoyed your TED talk. As a black actress/director living in LA, the idea of breaking out of our cultural norms resonated with me greatly. Often I feel my "type" is pushed into telling stories of struggle, anger, and hardship when we set out to create art. Though my skin is black, I am the product of a southern American, Jewish--formerly Muslim upbringing (hence the name Ameenah Kaplan). But I am also a secular humanist who has traveled the world and has benefited from the teachings of many cultures. I noticed early on that my work did not fit into the norm of "black" American culture. It instead encompasses every part of my human experience. It was wonderful to be introduced to someone who shares a similar point of view. Thank you! Ameenah

It´s nice to find an infinity with someone delivering a subject as I have done through Forty Rules. I am an Oct 1971 baby too and have come across your book through starting to read about mysticism and Rumi. It´s a lovely book and speaks to me at the right time on my own spiritual development path. Love to you!

Dear Elif, I want to thank you so much for your beautiful Novel,The Forty Rules of Love. I was totally engrossed in it and couldnt ut it down. So profound was it, I found myself writing down whole chunks of it so I could reread it again and again.Thank you so much for this wonderful work, it was an absolute joy to read and I loved it.
